DFRA - Bad Bad News
Artist Bio
Diego Ruiz, known as DFRA, is a Colombian DJ and music producer based in Buenos Aires for over a decade. With a background in classical and modern composition from Universidad Católica Argentina, DFRA blends his early influences of 80s and 90s Hip Hop, gospel, Soul, R&B, and Disco into a unique style. His music fuses Jazz, Soul, Neo Soul, and Funk with House, deeply inspired by Detroit and Chicago sounds of the 90s and 2000s, featuring jazz and soul musicality alongside electronic percussion and aggressive bass lines. Over his career, he has performed in Colombia, Argentina, Germany, France, and Spain, and released music on labels like Groovin (IT) and Hudd Traxx (UK). DFRA now runs Silver Walker, a label that merges his jazz roots with electronic music, and leads the DFRA Experience Jazz Band, collaborating with top Argentine musicians.
About Release
We’re excited to announce the latest release from our label — an exclusive 10-inch lathe-cut record, limited to just 10 copies. Each record is hand-stamped with our label's logo, and the lathe cut was done by NMCP Studio. Side A features the original track by DFRA — a classic deep house piece, rich with vocal samples that take us straight back to the ‘90s. Side B offers a remix by Junky Palms, a resampled and restructured mix crafted on his trusty NI Maschine+, with a haunting emphasis on chilling chords, resulting in a dub-style version.
